What is the capacity of SmartPoint

SmartPoint works with 240v 10amp devices, this equals 2.4KW. SmartPoint is compatible with anything with a standard Australian 10amp plug.

Can I replace any power point with an Alchemy Charge SmartPoint?

Yes!! Any existing power point can be replaced with a SmartPoint! Installation for any licensed electrician can be as simple as replacing the existing power point!

Are these suitable for AirBNB/Short term rental properties?

Yes, SmartPoints are a fantastic addition to Airbnb properties. They not only provide guests with a convenient on-site e-mobility charging option but also ensure that hosts can capitalise on this amenity. With a 50% utilisation rate, hosts could potentially be missing out on up to $6,300 per annum in additional revenue. Installing SmartPoints is affordable, and they can really make your property stand out, giving guests another compelling reason to book while boosting your income.

What is the average installation cost?

The average installation cost for a SmartPoint can vary widely depending on the simplicity or complexity of the installation process. Typically, you could expect to pay anywhere between $160 to $500 for installation.

Can we have multiple SmartPoints at one property?

Absolutely, you can install as many SmartPoints as necessary, each operating independently. For instance, if you have multiple parking spots, you can place a SmartPoint at each one and manage them individually for maximum efficiency and control.

As a host can I use the SmartPoint and not pay the commission?

The SmartPoint is designed to allow users to charge their EV or e-Mobility devices using external power sources. Therefore, we apply our commission to every kWh delivered.

SmartPoint Load Management

What is the Load Management system?
SmartPoint features a managed queueing system that prevents overloading by limiting concurrent charging sessions. It prioritises sessions based on the order they start and automatically queues subsequent sessions if the building reaches its capacity limit.

Is there an additional cost for Load Management?
Yes, activating the Load Management system incurs an additional cost. This can be structured as a recurring monthly fee or integrated into the kWh commission on usage. The payment method can be chosen at the time of activation.

When should buildings activate the managed queueing system?
We encourage buildings to activate the managed queueing system when nearing their electrical capacity limits. This helps save money by avoiding unnecessary costs until the system is needed.

How does SmartPoint manage charging in environments with multiple EVs?
In environments like Strata complexes or car parks, SmartPoint ensures the electrical system is not overloaded. For instance, if a complex can support charging 10 vehicles simultaneously but has 15 vehicles needing a charge, SmartPoint will manage the queue. It will charge the first 10 vehicles efficiently and then automatically activate the remaining 5 sessions as earlier sessions end.
